Travellers KO Bon Accord clash

The Council’s ridiculously ill thought out pitch ‘strategy’ was once again exposed as hopelessly flawed as travellers invading the Links have put paid to FPs clash with Bon Accord this Saturday.  It will be the 3rd weekend in a row that FPs will have 11+ players with no game of cricket. If the current state of teams scratching and there being no place to play on other weekends continues then there is no doubt that players will start finding other things to do on a Saturday.

The Grades deserve great credit for doing all they could to get a venue and Gordonians are kindly hosting the 2nd XI game.  However this situation was predictable as the Council opted for a so called strategy that made no provision for if a pitch was unavailable or the predicatable gypsy invasion and so the minute this happened there is no backup plan.  The toothless approach taken by the authorities to deal with the nuisance of these travellers is also again highlighted as good honest tax abiding citizens of Aberdeen are disadvantaged by the failed and embarresing softly, softly approach to remove this scourge from the city.

Hopefully this instance will make the Council rethink its strategy on pitches as the current setup leave no provision for problems.

FPs and Bon Accord will now have to find an alternative Sunday to play the match, but on the brightside, with a bad weather forecast, it may allow a game to be played that would otherwise be void.
