Reid Cup Final (second attempt) played on 31st August 2013
The scene for the Reid Cup final between 2nd AGSFPs and Kemnay-Kintore (KK) was set in Burnett Park, Banchory – one of the most beautiful grounds in Aberdeen shire especially on a glorious sunny day. The first attempt to play this final failed when nature intervened with a rain and the game had to be abandoned.
Due to unforeseen circumstances it has been decided to delay the start of work to re-establish the grass square at Rubislaw. Thanks to everyone who kindly offered to help over the next few days – you can stand down … for now.
The Committee are still working hard on the plans for this exciting development and there will be more news soon.
A wonderful win by the British & Irish Lions immediately preceding FP 2nd’s clash against Academy at Duthie Park had everyone pumped up for the game. That is if by everyone you meant Vice-Captain Barker who was the only member of the team who knew that the Lions even existed as a rugby team let alone that they had just won their first test series for 16 years.
With no-one interested in Barker’s flowing descriptions of the Lions’ tries and Halfpenny’s wonderful kicking, FPs opened the bowling with Chovatiya from the bandstand end and Mohanan with the Winter Gardens at his back.
FPs 1st XI took a much-changed XI to sun-soaked Kellands Park for this Grade 1 fixture. Ashish, Clelland, Campbell, Chovatiya, Eagles, and debutant Whiteley replacing Bishop, Senthil, Mapplebeck, Sam Knudson, Morrison and Whitehouse in a side led by stand-in skipper Roland Knudson. Despite the recent wet conditions the Inverurie groundsman produced a good looking track and FPs were invited to have the first look at it, batting after losing the toss.
