Karthik the star man for 2nd XI
For the first time in three weeks, Grammar FP’s 2nd XI had a full strength team to play against Crescent at the Duthie Park. Coming into the team to join Fryer, Rama, Magesh, Milne, Karthik and Johnston were Kieran Whyte, Ian Goodenough, Mike Blues, Ben Frizzell and nursing a holiday excess knee wound with three stitches, came Doug Russell.

FP’s 2nds Beat Banchory 2nds in Thriller
For the away match against Banchory 2nd XI, AGSFP’s 2nd XI travelled with only 9 men. Not even a match at probably the nicest ground in the North East with the softest outfield (and the hardest speed bumps) could tempt a full turn out.
Last weeks heroes against Ellon 2nds Rob Fryer and Nick Blyth were joined by Johnston, Davey, Pehlaj, Rama and Grades debutants Vijay and Paul Norwood. This weeks FP’s debutant was Doug Bennett, wearing a team shirt from a previous life. Fortunately for Bennett, a spare jersey was found to cover the badge and sponsors logo, otherwise 9 men or not, he would have been on the next bus home.

Welcome to 2010 – A Message from the Treasurer
Dear Member,
A late but well meant Happy New Year.
Website
As you presumably know as you’re on it we have an excellent website which is updated after every game with results and a match report. We will continue to develop this site during 2010 and you can also follow us on twitter and facebook (coming soon – Ed.) from the links on the site.
Subscriptions
As with previous years it is a requirement for those in the Section to be members of the FP Club Centre. The section subscription has remained at the same level for many years, however as we are now levied £40 by the parent club for members, we have been left with little alternative but to increase it this year.

FPs too strong for 2nd Banchory
2nd Banchory were the visitors to a sun-kissed Rubislaw on Saturday. After a weather-enforced week off everyone was keen for a game, apart from Morrison who preferred to survey England’s humiliation from the Headingley stands. Despite Budd and Youles also being unavailable skipper Knudson still had a strong squad with a balanced batting lineup and a multitude of bowling options.

2nds Huntly Chances Ruined by Weather
The AGSFP’s 2ndXI team to play our first ever match against Huntly Highlanders showed 5 changes to the team beaten by Portcullis.
Out went our top run scorer Govil, and top wicket taker Hart, along with Raam, Raj and Kamran. Making his debut was schoolboy Doug Russell, Rizwan returned from injury, Mike Phillips returned from work, Ben Frizzell and Mutu returned from the first XI.
The toss was won by Huntly Highlanders, a team made up primarily of schoolboys with three or four more ‘experienced’ players to coach the younger members along.
Grammar were asked to bat first on a newly laid artificial wicket, the sort of luxurious artificial wicket which would look great at Rubislaw. The boundary rope had been laid 70% / 30% on either side of the wicket which would make fielding / ball retrieval interesting at times.

2nds Go Down Fighting at Portcullis
The Second XI’s opening away match this season was at the Duthie Park against Portcullis. Our large squad fluctuated from ten available on Friday morning to thirteen by Saturday lunchtime. Eventually there were four changes from the washed out opening match, Mutu was unavailable, Phillips had work commitments, Houghton was hospitalised with hopefully a non-Mexican strain of chickenpox, and Blyth was planning his forthcoming wedding.
FP’s had two debutants, Kamran and Raam, Mike Hart made his annual comeback and Raj travelled up from Edinburgh to help us out again.
