Dear Member,
A late but well meant Happy New Year.
As you presumably know as you’re on it we have an excellent website which is updated after every game with results and a match report. We will continue to develop this site during 2010 and you can also follow us on twitter and facebook (coming soon – Ed.) from the links on the site.
As with previous years it is a requirement for those in the Section to be members of the FP Club Centre. The section subscription has remained at the same level for many years, however as we are now levied £40 by the parent club for members, we have been left with little alternative but to increase it this year.

Heavy and persistent rain has washed out FPs trip to Crathie in the league. The game was called off at 930am with it clear there was no chance of play. FPs are set to travel to Crathie again on Sunday for a cup tie, but with the current weather forecast this game must already be under threat.

Junior Convenor John Lord is looking for help to run our two junior teams this season. We have an Under 15 and Under 17 side who will be playing a number of games against local opposition in the next couple of months.
Junior practice sessions are on Thursday afternoons (4.15-6.00pm) and Saturday mornings (9.30-11.00am). If you are available to assist at any of the games or practice sessions then please contact John directly or leave a comment on the website.
The new season is only a few days away with Firsts away to Fraserburgh in Grade 2 while the seconds are at home to Stoney Dyce in Grade 4.
This website will soon allow you to advise how to access this once available. Fixture lists can be viewed on the website and there are a few cup games on a Sunday and the sevens competition in June.
There will be practice at Rubislaw on Thursday’s from 1800hrs onwards although we will not have the nets available, so we will use the artificial and possibly the bowling machine instead. We should have the nets available the week after.
The nets are currently being upgraded and extended to improve our practise facilities and this improvement will hopefully be worth waiting for.
New playing shirts are also due to arrive this week and will be available for the bargain price of £20.
Finally, anyone who has not yet paid subs can do so either online or by sending a cheque to Geoff Morrison.
The fixture list has now been confirmed for the upcoming season. Our league programme starts on Saturday 25th April when the 1st XI will travel to Fraserburgh and the 2nd XI will host Stoneywood-Dyce.
The firsts have to go to Crathie twice in the same weekend in the middle of May. If we can win our Bon Accord Cup tie on Sunday 17th May we will then face Fraserburgh or Caledonian in the semi-final. For the seconds their hopes of Johnstone Cup glory start with a game against 2nd St Ronald on Saturday 23rd May. A win in that tie would seem us through to face either Huntly Highlanders or 2nd Mannofield for a place in the final.
The full fixture list for the season has now been updated on the site.

FPs today announced an intention to head back to the future as they sensationally named Dallas Moir and Simon Tomkins in their eleven for Saturday. Fan favourite Moir has been mentioned in dispatches for a return but even the most ardent fan never expected they would see the day, whether he can show his form of the 80s remains to be seen, but the Moir twins lining up one more time is sure to excite all concerned within FPS. Rumours of returns for Rennie, Ferro and Church are presently wide of the mark.
The team is expected to line up as follows: Jo Lord, Clelland, J Moir, Ja Lord, D Moir, MacDonald, Morrison, R Knudson, Muthu, Eagles, Tomkins
Promising young Australian all rounder Sam Gill has recently returned to Brisbane for family reasons. Sam started playing for the 2nd XI last season and made an immediate impact by taking wickets, catches, and batting like every ball was his last. He was a good team man who always gave it everything no matter how bad the hangover was.
Sam left Aberdeen last Saturday and came down past Rubislaw on his way to the airport to say cheerio, and was generous enough to donate his kit bag and contents, including pads, helmet, rarely used bat, box, trainers and an Australian top!  Â
