Guys congratulations on your victory over Mannofield, the better team on the day won!

Just in response to the match report, so that some dont get the wrong idea there were debatable LBW’s on both sides not overly contested by either team.

Mannofield or should I say my issue was three separate mistakes made by one of the opening umpires.

The dead ball situation given as byes costing us 4 runs, the wide decision given on hight that went through chest hight and the other wide that the umpire asked the batsmen first if it was wide before giving the decision. these were the only properly contested decisions and I dont believe any were of the above decisions were wrong via cheating but due to a lack of understanding of the rules.

Great story and fitting climax for that old warhorse (from an even older warhorse! and still playing). Appropriately I was looking to contact Jerry. When he finished his Strathmore Union career, I believe he borrowed some statistics books (pre-1999) from Richard Miller in order to note down his runs and wickets. We now have another old-timer (Andy Thorogood)who has just retired from the game and I am trying to compile his career stats as a favour to Montrose CC. Although I have his stats from 1999 onwards, I need the earlier books which Jerry hopefully has in order to complete the job. Can you help or put me in touch with Jerry ?

Best headline I have seen this season. Game played in a great spirit and well done FPs – a very fair bunch of lads who play seriously but very fairly. No complaints when decisions did not go their way.
