Following last week’s convincing win against Queens Cross 2nd XI, Grammar FP’s 2nd XI returned to Rubislaw for the Grade 3 match against Methlick 2nd XI. The FP’s line up showed two changes, out went injured Rizwan and the heavily expectant Karthik, and back in to the team came Mike Phillips and Tom Booth, playing his second game for FP’s.
FPs stun Mannofield with dramatic victory
May 29th, 2010 · 1st XI Match Reports
FPs picked up their 2nd win in two weeks in sensational style as they defeated Mannofield by 47 runs. All had seem lost for FPs as the batting crumbled once again to 80 for 7 but a magnificent innings from Jerry Moir (86 not out) including 10 sixes and a brave 13 not out from 17 year old James Lord lifted FPs to 161 for 7. In reply Mannofield seemed to be crusing to victory at 101 for 3 but inspired spells from John Eagles (4 for 20) and Gary Stuart (2 for 7) secured the most incredible victory as Mannofield fell to 114 all out. The win was all the more remarkable given FPs played almost the whole game with only 10 men due a family emergency for Sam Knudson. [Read more →]

FPs crash out of the cup
May 23rd, 2010 · 1st XI Match Reports
An understrength FPs exited the Aberdeenshire cup after a heavy 99 run defeat to Inverurie. Aberdeenshire man Lamb struck an excellent 81 in a rare Inverurie start as they compiled 180 for 5 and then George Hadden produced an inspired spell to claim 7 for 23 as FPs crumbled to 81 all out. Sam Knudson and Tabrez Malik both produced fine bowling spells to at least lift FP spirits.

FP’s 2nds win derby match
May 22nd, 2010 · 2nd XI Match Reports
For the away match over the wall at Harlaw against Queens Cross 2nd XI, Grammar FP’s 2nd XI made three changes to the team which played St Ronald the previous week, with Aussie Danny Marqant making his debut in place of Hozefa, John Davey playing his first game of the season in place of Waji, and Rizwan a late replacement for Phillips.
Queens Cross skipper Lumsden continued his losing streak as FP’s brilliantly won the toss, and Queens Cross were invited to bat on the wicket which was damp from the previous evenings rain, and several shades of green, but the weather was very hot and sunny for this Grade 3 derby match. FP’s 2nds lose to St Ronald
May 15th, 2010 · 2nd XI Match Reports
Grammar 2nd XI had to make only four changes for the home game against Grade 3 high flying St Ronalds 2nd XI. Out of the team went John Lord, Tom Booth, Aly MacDonald, and Rubesh, who were replaced by Paul MacDonald, Waji, Doug Russell and debutant Hozefa. But this week we had all eleven players ready for action before the start, with Magesh arriving early and parking in the space reserved for the captain.
To save a little time, the toss was performed in front of the old pavilion rather than make the usual visit to the old and hopefully soon to be replaced artificial wicket. The change of venue did little to change the outcome and FP’s were duly asked to bat first. [Read more →]

FPs slump to dismal defeat
May 9th, 2010 · 1st XI Match Reports
FPs contrived to lose a low scoring affair as Inverurie’s modest 120 for 9 proved sufficient to see off FPs by 14 runs. Some excellent fielding and bowling by Inverurie combined with some poor batting for FPs handed Inverurie a victory which had seemed inconceivable at tea. George Hadden rode his luck in a less than fluent 48 and Coutts and Jessiman combined with 7 wickets as Inverurie showed great determination andgrit. After a good all round bowling display only Malik’s gutsy 26 offered any real hope for FPs. [Read more →]

Academy teach Grammar 2nds a lesson
May 8th, 2010 · 2nd XI Match Reports
The unheard of happened this week as FP’s 2nd XI found themselves with way too many players to choose from for the away match against Academy at the Duthie Park.
Late to arrive this week was our resident Professor in History who can quote dates and places of battles most folk have never heard of, but failed to remember where our Saturday afternoon battlefield was to be. [Read more →]
