Queens Cross dent FPs chances

FPs were dealt a blow to their promotion chances as they slipped to a 6 wicket defeat to Queens Cross.  After losing the toss FPs were asked to bat and struggled to 130 all out in 43.1overs despite a valiant 37 from Budd.  In reply Queens Cross were 54 for 4 but a useful 56 from McLarnon saw them to victory. Methlick (A) 26th July

There were five changes to the team to play against the MCC at Lairds. Out from last weeks heavy defeat against Crescent were Pradeep and Murali who were rested, Rory Annand was injured, Ben Frizzel was promoted to the firsts, and Junaid chose to play golf instead. That’s right, golf.

In came Magesh, back from a vodka drinking, sausage eating tour of Poland, Tom Murray back from his traumatic second visit of the year to the barbers, Nick Blyth back from a tour of England, where his presence coincided with a 10 wicket defeat by South Africa, Sam Knudson, home safely from a safari tour of Africa annoying elephants and lions and Mike Lloyd back from playing cricket in Canada and studying quantum physics or something equally difficult to spell, let alone understand.

FPs held by Leaders

FPs were unable to close the gap on leaders St Ronald in a dull encounter at Rubislaw.  Despite requiring only 191 for victory, St Ronald made no attempt to chase down the total preferring to bore the FP fielders into submission.  There are often exciting draws such as the recent Academy encounter but if ever there was ammunition for those keen to ban the draw then this was it. Crescent (A) 19th July

The team to play Crescent at the Duthie Park showed five changes from our last match at Kintore. Magesh, Murray, Fraser and Blyth were all unavailable, and in came Ben Frizzel, Harry Houghton making his debut, Junaid, and two of Karthik’s friends Pradeep and Murali (no, not that one) volunteered to help us out.

FPs held by Academy

FPs were unable to force a victory against Academy after a determined display by the Academy batsmen. FPs did however get the better of the draw collecting maximum batting and draw points as well as picking up 9 wickets. With Knudson and Clelland both unavailable, it was stand in skipper Morrison who lost the toss and FPs were asked to bat. With all other games off at the Duthie Park, it was a very wet pitch which greeted openers Lord and Budd. Continue reading

Kintore (A) 12th July

This week we went from fifteen players available on Thursday night, to nine on Friday, to eleven on Saturday to actually arriving at Kintore with 10 players. Unavailable from last week was Luigi Govil and promoted to the firsts was Muthu. Craig Fraser came in to keep wicket and despite the fluctuations in numbers, nine of last week’s team made the trip to play third top Kintore.

FPs crush sorry Kemnay

FPs kept up the pressure at the top of the table as they dismantled Kemnay’s batting and completed victory in less than two hours at Rubislaw.  Despite winning the toss, Kemnay surprisingly elected to bat first against a strong FP bowling unit which contained Moir, Lord, Stuart, Eagles, Tomkins, MacDonald and Youles. 2nd Banchory (A) 21st June

The near impossible happened this week when the team was chosen by 10am on Thursday morning, but still showed four changes from last week’s team.

Magesh’s three friends from Edinburgh had better things to do this week, Skinner was recalled to the first XI and Mike Hart was unavailable, so in came Muthu to keep wicket, Rory Annand returned from an extended tour of the Guinness brewery in Dublin, Tom Murray returned from holiday, and JPL returned from his self imposed exile for the trip to Banchory.

Anchorians (A) 14th June

The 2nd XI team selection was finalised around Saturday lunchtime for the away match against Anchorians at the Duthie Park, but amazingly showed only four changes to the eleven involved in the thrilling tie against Dunecht the previous week. Nick Blyth , Rory Annand and Junaid were unavailable, Rizwan was promoted to the firsts.

They were replaced by three friends of Magesh’s who were in Aberdeen for the weekend, Badri, Deepak and Dradeep and Mike Hart also generously volunteered to come in to make a rare appearance.
