Weather Denies FPs Victory in Abandonment

FPs were denied a seemingly certain victory as heavy rain washed out the FP innings while only chasing a victory target of 64.  Despite both sides attempting to make the best of the conditions, it was clear by4pm that there was no chance of the game being completed and the captains had no alternative but to call the game off.

5 Star Eagles Downs Artisans

FPs collected another 30 points in a comfortable 6 wicket win against bogey team Artisans.  John Eagles did the bulk of the damage claiming 5 for 26 in a fine bowling spell.  Knudson once again won the toss and asked Artisans to bat.  FPs made 3 changes from last week with Stuart, Phillips and Clelland replacing Whyte, James Lord and McDonald.

Winning Start as FPs Crush the Broch

FPs made a strong start to the new season as they brushed aside Fraserburgh in a 7 wicket win.  Miller, Moir and Eagles were all in fine bowling form, sharing 8 wickets, with debutant Whyte claiming 3 catches and stand in keeper Morrison grabbing 5 dismissals.

2nds End Season on a High at Stoneywood

Last week’s close defeat against promotion favourites Banchory meant that the last game of the season against Stoneywood-Dyce would decide which of the two teams would finish bottom of Grade 3.

There were two changes to the team, out through injury went James Lord, and Edinburgh based Pradeep was spared the trip to Aberdeen as in came Rory Annand, and due to make his debut was Kevin Warner. Unfortunately Warner was a very, very late call off, and had it not been for a B&Q non-delivery of a fence for Geoff Morrison, we would have been one man short.

Banchory (H) 23rd August

Following last week’s magnificent victory against Turriff, there were only two changes for the vital game against Banchory 2nd XI at Rubislaw. Both teams desperately needed the 30 points for the win, Grammar to help avoid relegation, and Banchory to help gain promotion.

Sam Knudson was unavailable due to rugby friendlies, not relegation battles, just friendlies. But to replace him in the team from the firsts came all rounder James Lord. To ensure we had eleven this week, we had to send for one of our Edinburgh squad members, Pradeep.

Dull Draw After FPs Run Fest

FPS today played out a dull draw with an Artisan’s side battling to stay in Grade 2  The away side will be the happier of the sides with their relegation rivals losing heavily. Once again, Hamish Chisholm was the thorn in FPs side batting 50 overs for 43 not out.  This was certainly not a good advert for cricket, but credit must be given to Chisholm who played correctly throughout, showing little aggression as Artisans settled for a draw at an early stage.

FPs held by Academy

FPs were unable to force a victory against Academy after a determined display by the Academy batsmen. FPs did however get the better of the draw collecting maximum batting and draw points as well as picking up 9 wickets. With Knudson and Clelland both unavailable, it was stand in skipper Morrison who lost the toss and FPs were asked to bat. With all other games off at the Duthie Park, it was a very wet pitch which greeted openers Lord and Budd. Continue reading →

FPs crush sorry Kemnay

FPs kept up the pressure at the top of the table as they dismantled Kemnay’s batting and completed victory in less than two hours at Rubislaw.  Despite winning the toss, Kemnay surprisingly elected to bat first against a strong FP bowling unit which contained Moir, Lord, Stuart, Eagles, Tomkins, MacDonald and Youles. Majestic Moir massacres Queens Cross

FPs cruised to an 8 wicket win with more than 18 overs to spare as Dallas Moir unleashed an astonishing onslaught on the Queens Cross attack in an unbeaten 97 from only 66 balls. Veteran Moir, making a rare appearance, lined up beside his fit again brother Jerry Moir, with Simon Tomkins also making a very welcome return to the fold. Continue reading →
