FPs Fall Short in CS Trophy

McKinney performed well with bat, ball and in the field.

FPs put up a valiant fight against St.Michaels in the CS Challenge Trophy but eventually succumbed to a 3 wicket loss. The main difference between the sides were St Michaels being able to call upon Overseas Professional Niemand who took 2 for 24 and made a quickfire 27 and overseas amateur, the talented Martins who took 2 for 35 and made a composed 42. St Michaels skipper Holmes smashed 61 to see his side home.  The highlight for FPs was some sublime fielding, Connor McKinney claiming a stunning caught and bowled before surpassing himself with a one handed horizontal grab at short cover to a full blooded drive. Steinson also caught a brilliant diving effort at midwicket.  Good batting efforts by Steinson 42 and McKinney 29 helped FPs to a competitive 171 all out.  Connor McKinney claimed 2 early wickets and was backed up by Roland Knudson with 1 and Sam Knudson claiming another professional scalp, much to the anger of Nieman who in true comic fashion who through all his kit in anger at the pavillion having been caught at point.

Steinson top scored

FPs missed a tough chance to get Holmes before he had scored which was decisive as he took full advantage to see his side home despite skipper Swiergon landing 2 late blows as FPs threatened to claim a stunning late victory.

The game was played in a good spirit and St Michaels made a good day out of it following their long trip north from Dumfries.

Man of the Match

Champagne Moment
