Leston D’Costa hit a superb maiden ton as 1s put up a good fight attempting to chase down Mannofield’s 291 for 7, eventually being bowled out for 261. 14 year old Shedbal had earlier mase a run a ball century for the home side and numerous dropped catches looked to have scuppered any chances Grammar had.
Hasnain Javaid had nipped in with 5 for 61 for Grammar but the total always appeared a bit high, Prash the only other wicket taker with a tidy 2 for 49.
Grammar fell to 69 for 4 after a good opening stand of 65 thanks to Alex Keith (33) and Agha Haider (29) and despite some resistance from Tahir, Grammar looked sunk at 148 for 6. Leston D’Costa found good assistance from Tom Murray who looked to defend dead bat of attack aggressively and he struck 42 from 38 balls to keep Grammar alive. His run out was though the death knell for Grammar’s chances. D’Costa did complete a superb century from 84 balls with 10 fours and 3 sixes but fell next ball as any lingering hopes disappeared.
It is a game Grammar will have felt they could have won thanks to a superb batting effort but ultimately dropped catches were costly and the score on the board was too many. Next up is a trip to face Master blasters who have given Grammar many problems in the last few seasons.
